Raising Empowered Girls
and Bettering Africa.
We believe that every girl deserves an equal opportunity to grow and thrive.
60% of 15-17 year old African girls are out of school.
The gender gap in Africa is alarming and it won’t improve without significant resources and strategic solutions.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide underprivileged girls in Africa, equal opportunities to grow and thrive through education, athletics, extracurricular activities, and access to comprehensive healthcare services, including treatment for HIV and AIDS.
The Divine Amani Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing world-class education and medical resources for underprivileged girls within our hub in Kenya as well as other neighboring countries in the future.
Our boarding school will offer a safe and supportive environment where teenage girls can develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed.
Through our work, we aim to empower individuals and families, thereby creating a brighter future for all.
Let’s Do This.
Help Us Reach Our First Milestone Together.
Our Founders
The Divine Amani Foundation was founded by three Minnesota-based entrepreneurs: Joyce Mogeni, Michael J. Hunter and Dorothy McKaney-Scott. They are healthcare enthusiasts and philanthropists who recognized a unique need in Africa.
After years of advancing their careers in the U.S. healthcare industry, they connected over one shared passion: empowering teenage girls in Africa to help them overcome childhood poverty, trauma, and abuse by instilling courage, hope, and confidence.
Joyce Mogeni
Joyce Mogeni was born and raised in a small town in Kenya. Today, she’s an award-winning serial entrepreneur, philanthropist, and the founder of a successful healthcare and staffing agency, Divine Healing Home Care.
At 14 years old, Joyce worked in her father’s retail shop in Kenya where she learned basic entrepreneurial skills in a hands-on manner.
Later, she obtained nearly every nursing degree in the U.S. and credits her faith, work ethic, and resilience instilled during her early childhood years.
Passionate about creating change within the healthcare system, Joyce also owns several healthcare facilities in the U.S., including assisted living homes, where she currently serves as the director.
She is a member of the Community of Angels, where she provides hands-on support for their annual medical mission trip to Liberia.

Michael J. Hunter
Michael J. Hunter grew up in Liberia, West Africa, where he witnessed many challenges for women and children to access education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
After living in the U.S. and becoming a nurse, he transitioned to senior level management positions. Eventually, he decided to build his own business and founded Guaranteed Home Health Care.
Michael is dedicated to informing, educating, and advocating for residential providers serving individuals in the mental health, disability, and elderly communities.
He has extensive experience with special needs care, disease prevention, health promotion, and education.
Dorothy Mckaney-Scott
Dorothy McKaney-Scott is an executive business leader with more than three decades of leadership and operational management experience.
She is a strategic planner for nonprofit agencies in Arizona and a humanitarian who advocates public policy reforms, economics, and empowerment for girls and women of color.
Her long career includes serving many roles, such as The Black Board of Directors (focused on recruiting people of color), Girl Scouts, Birthing Project (a high school for pregnant and parenting teens), YWCA, Soroptimist International and Triple R Foundation, which is a behavioral health care agency.
Dorothy is also extremely passionate about important issues impacting families, such as abuse, bullying, suicide, and violence.
